The new year has come and February is already here! How many of you set yet another New Year’s resolution of losing that stubborn weight? We’ve all been there folks! Whether it’s to fit into smaller clothes, improving your appearance and/or self-confidence, or more importantly, to improve your health, losing weight is consistently one of the most popular resolutions made each and every year. And why is that? You may feel like dieting is just too hard to sustain and or keeping the weight off afterwards is next to impossible. Also, with new trending diets popping up all over and the abundance of conflicting information related to nutrition and health available online or in the media, the whole process of beginning a weight loss journey can feel overwhelming! Well fret not my friends. I have an answer that may quite possibly be the solution to helping you reach your weight loss goals. Wait for it…..
…Work with a Registered Dietitian! Ok, that was a bit over the top maybe, but let me tell you why. You should work with a registered dietitian because:
- An RD is the only health or nutrition professional that has met the comprehensive standards set by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, passed a rigorous national board exam, and completed training via an internship program.
- An RD is a credible source for nutrition and food information that is supported by the most recent scientific research and literature.
- They will help develop a safe and realistic plan that is specifically tailored to the individual’s needs and lifestyle.
You may be thinking to yourself, “that sounds all well and good, but it’s probably too expensive to work with a Registered Dietitian.” Well it’s not…actually, not at all. Free in a lot of cases. That’s because a key provision of the Affordable Healthcare Act mandates that private healthcare plans cover “preventable services” without any cost to the patient, which includes the services of a Registered Dietitian. That means no deductible, no co-insurance, and not even a co-pay. What do you have to lose? Call or schedule a visit with a Registered Dietitian in your area and get on the fast track to reaching that weight loss goal of yours!
