Mind Over Matter

positive, can, selbstbestimmung

Right now, it’s hard. It’s all hard. Making the right healthy choices seem difficult normally, let alone during a pandemic.Finding motivation to workout everyday with gyms closed and friends that are social distancing is hard. Working from home (with kids!) is hard. Eating vegetables everyday when you see the chocolate bar on the counter is hard. Sleeping 8 hours a night after staring at your computer for 10 hours a day is hard. Turning off Netflix to go for a walk is hard. Choosing to drink the right amount of water (instead of coffee 😞) is hard. I’m with you, and I get it, I really really get it.

But this is where we need to dig down and find the motivation to be better than we were. At this time we need to really care about our health, both mental and physical, and find the need to want to feel good everyday. It’s hard enough dealing with an uncertain world and being stuck at home, so anything you can do to better your wellbeing (mind, body, and soul) is important.

So, let’s talk about mindset. One of my favorite sayings is mind over matter. Why? Because this simple saying means a whole lot when you need the use of willpower to overcome physical problems. These physical problems can be as simple (or difficult) as choosing water over another beverage. Or as challenging as finishing that last rep when you are  lifting and your legs feel like they might give out. Give yourself credit for being the strong, courageous, dedicated individual you are and use that power to make yourself better.

At the end of the day, healthy living doesn’t need to be ALL or NONE. Doing even a little something is always better than nothing.⠀⠀

So…Question of the Day

What small thing did you do today that was better than nothing? ⠀
